We are hoping that the Kindergarten portion of the program will begin in March while the remaining full school program might be able to roll out in April or May this year (2024).

As with many things in public schools we have to wait for the processes and procedures to catch up to our wants. We are fortunate to have many willing and able supporters at Mills River School and in Henderson County that are helping us through these processes allowing us to do things the proper way. Please thank the administration and our most wonderful bookkeeper for putting up with us and pushing along our agendas!

Zooming towards success.

This year we have partnered up with some extremely generous sponsors for our Bike Appreciation program.

Initially, we had two local organizations donate and cover the costs of our kindergarten Learn To Bike program. Then an anonymous donor swooped in and paid the All-Kids Bike Program directly covering the entire cost of the learn to bike program!

We then decided - hey, why don’t we make this a school wide program. So, we decided to buy more bikes, more helmets and a storage unit so that we can house all 75 bikes. Blue Ridge Bicycle Club, a local advocacy organization that puts on multiple races each year and orchestrates helmet donation throughout the year will be sponsoring half of the program. While the other half is being sponsored by Berm Peak, a local YouTuber, mountain bike enthusiast and trail builder.

Mills River School has been supremely lucky to be able to pull together many resources and drastic discounts in this endeavor. At this time we would like to highlight Sycamore Cycles/Specialized as they have been a great source of some of those discounts and we cannot express enough of our gratitude in their support.
